Huntington Office

John G. Hess, CPA
Senior Member

John Hess is a senior member of the firm. Mr. Hess has practiced public accounting since 1973. He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand in Columbus, Ohio, working predominantly in the audit department, and more specifically audits of manufacturing companies, financial institutions, governmental agencies and non-profit organizations. Mr. Hess returned to Huntington, West Virginia and joined a large local firm where he was partner in charge of the audit department. There he participated and managed several manufacturing and financial institution engagements.

Robert "Bob" C. Campbell, CPA
Senior Member

Robert Campbell is a senior member with Hess, Stewart & Campbell. Mr. Campbell specializes in small and emerging businesses, management, advisory services and taxation. In addition, he manages the accounting services, tax planning and compliance for a variety of businesses, estates and trusts. Also, Mr. Campbell has extensive experience working with businesses in and related to the coal industry.

Tomi J. Weber, CPA
Member

Tomi J. Weber is a native of Milton, WV and a certified public accountant since 1986. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Marshall University in 1979 and has been working in public accounting ever since. Tomi has been with Hess, Stewart & Campbell since its inception in 1985 and is in charge of small business services for the firm. She specializes in trust and estate taxation and is also a Quickbooks Pro advisor.

Tomi has served as president for the Huntington chapters of WV Society of CPAs and American Society of Women Accountants in the past. She also serves as Board Treasurer for serveral local organizations.

Eliott “Eli” R. Wilson, CPA, CFF, ABV, CVA
Member

Eli Wilson became a certified public accountant in 2006 and has worked with Hess, Stewart & Campbell since 2007 as a part of the firm's taxation, valuation, and forensic accounting divisions. He attended Marshall University as a John Marshall Scholar and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, graduating magna cum laude. Eli has also earned his Master of Business Administration, and Master of Science in human resource management. He has extensive experience with tax research, business valuation, mergers and acquisitions, and other consulting engagements involving forensic accounting and litigation support.

Eli is certified in financial forensics and accredited in business valuation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and is a certified valuation analyst. He is a member of the AICPA (including the forensic and valuation services section), The West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and The National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Marshall University Division of Accountancy &Legal Environment Advisory Board and has been an adjunct professor of accounting and taxation for the division.

Sherry L. Harden
Office Manager

Sherry Harden has worked as an office manager with Hess, Stewart & Campbell from the very beginning. After earning her associate degree in accounting and bookkeeping, business administration and computer science from Huntington Junior College, she began working for the firm Callaway, Trainer & Wright CPAs as an administrative assistant in 1979. In 1985 she accompanied two of the firm’s partners, John Hess and Richard Stewart, when they left Callaway, Trainer & Wright to begin their own practice.

As the office manager, she is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial statements and monthly and quarterly taxes.

Charles "Matt" Morris, CPA
Audit Manager

Matt Morris started with the Hess, Stewart & Campbell in 2008 after graduating summa cum laude from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a minor in economics. He went on to obtain his Master of Science in accountancy, graduating summa cum laude in 2010. While at Marshall, he was an active member of Beta Alpha Psi and participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

In 2010, Matt received the Certificate of Merit Award from the WV Society of Certified Public Accountants for attaining the highest average grade in passing all subjects of the CPA exam. He is a member of the WV Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Matt is a member of the audit department and has experience in the following industries: financial institutions, manufacturers, housing authorities, benefit plans, and nonprofits. He also prepares federal and state tax returns for entities in the above industries as well as for individuals and has experience with business valuation engagements.

Jason Scott Kelley, CPA
Senior Accountant

Jason Kelley graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 2012 and a Master of Science in accountancy in 2013. He became a certified public accountant in 2014 after working with Hess, Stewart and Campbell since 2012 as a part of the auditing and attestation department.

Jason is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The WV Society of Certified Public Accountants and has been published in the latter’s 2014 September issued magazine. He has experience participating in audit engagements for non-profit organizations, manufacturers, retailers, financial institutions, and employee benefit plans. He also prepares federal and state tax returns for various entities and individuals.

Matthew C. Edmunds, CPA
Senior Accountant

Matthew Edmunds graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 2015. Shortly after, he obtained a Master of Science in accountancy from Marshall University in 2016. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 2020 after working with Hess, Stewart & Campbell since 2014 as part of the auditing and attestation department.  

Matthew is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The WV Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has experience participating in audit engagements for non-profit organizations, manufacturers, financial institutions and employee benefit plans. He also prepares federal and state tax returns for various entities and individuals.

Denise E. Pigman
Administrative Assistant

Denise Pigman has worked as an administrative assistant for Hess, Stewart & Campbell since 1995. She began working in the public accounting industry with the firm Somerville and Company in 1973 within their clerical department. In 1976, Denise was hired for an office manager position with Taylor & Company which has since merged with Hess, Stewart & Campbell. Her current responsibilities include all aspects of the firm’s clerical department.

Tiffany G. Miller, CPA
Senior Accountant

Tiffany Miller earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting with a minor in economics from Marshall University in 2003. She became a certified public accountant in April of 2013 and has since become a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Huntington chapter of the WV Society of CPAs.

Tiffany is a senior accountant with Hess, Stewart & Campbell, specializing in small and emerging business accounting and consulting, corporate and individual income tax preparation and consulting.

Darrell D. Tucker, CPA
Tax and Small Business Supervisor

Darrell Tucker earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Morehead State University in 1982. Darrell is a certified public accountant in West Virginia and Kentucky and he has been working with Hess, Stewart & Campbell since 1997.

Darrell currently supervises the tax and small business department and his responsibilities include tax, tax planning, compilations and estate and trust services. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the WV Society of Certified Public Accountants and the KY Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Leanne Imperi, EA
Senior Accountant

Leanne Imperi is a Huntington native who graduated cum laude from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She worked in local industry for over 15 years before entering the field of public accounting in 1998. Leanne has been with Hess, Stewart & Campbell since 2009 and currently serves as an enrolled agent, working predominantly in the field of taxation, but also in small business accounting and financial statement preparation.

Leanne serves as treasurer for the Board of Directors of both Birthright of Huntington, and the Huntington Outdoor Theatre. She is also a member of the Forest Hills Neighborhood Association.

Debra "Debbie" Brown
Senior Accountant

Debbie is a senior accountant and a paraprofessional on the small business staff. While attending Marshall University she joined a local accounting firm in November 1984, and in November 1985 became part of the team at Hess, Stewart and Campbell.

She specializes in QuickBooks, payroll processing, small business accounting, compiled financial statement preparation and various federal and state returns.

Tammy Jordan
Senior Accountant

Tammy is a senior accountant and a paraprofessional on the small business staff. She attended Huntington Junior College of Business and obtained associate degrees in accounting and business administration. She started working in public accounting in July 1984 before joining Hess, Stewart & Campbell in 1985.

She specializes in payroll processing, quarterly and annual payroll taxes, small business accounting, compiled and reviewed financial statement preparation and preparation of federal and state income tax returns.

Chase Caldwell
Staff Accountant

Chase Caldwell graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and business analytics in 2017. Chase started with Hess, Stewart & Campbell as a full-time member of the auditing and attestation department in 2017.

Chase has experience participating in audit engagements for non-profit organizations, manufacturers, retailers, financial institutions, and employee benefit plans. He also prepares federal and state tax returns for various entities and individuals.

Renick "Ren" D. Perry II, CPA
Senior Accountant

Ren is a native of Wayne, WV and a Certified Public Accountant since 2016. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Marshall University in 2013 and has been working in public accounting for over five years. Ren joined Hess, Stewart & Campbell in June of 2018 and is currently working in the small business services for the firm. He specializes in business accounting and tax preparation services with an in-depth knowledge of health care, manufacturing and construction industries.

Ren is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The WV Society of Certified Public Accountants. 

Jill Coleman
Receptionist

Jill graduated from Mountwest Community and Technical College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science for Administrative Technology.  She joined the team at Hess, Stewart and Campbell in the fall of 2017 as a receptionist.  Her responsibilities include all aspects of the firm’s clerical department. 

Amanda Crum
Staff Accountant

Amanda Crum graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a minor in Accounting in 2008. She previously worked for another CPA before moving back to the area and joining Hess, Stewart & Campbell in 2017. Amanda is a member of the small business staff and has experience in QuickBooks, payroll processing, small business accounting, compiled financial statement preparation and various federal and state income tax returns. 

Samuel "Sam" J. Vance II
Information Technology Director

Sam Vance is an IT professional that has been managing information technology teams and data networks since 1999 with experience in public company and regulatory compliance.  He has expertise with small business IT Management through providing outsourcing services or helping clients supplement existing information technology staff. Sam is versed in IT audits, mergers and acquisitions, system migrations, policy and procedure development, contract consultation, system integration, strategic technology planning, and manufacturing operations.  He is a certified project manager and certified on many technologies and platforms.  Sam attended Oral Roberts University and Marshall University for Business and Management Information Systems. 

A native of Barboursville, WV, Sam is also involved with the non-profit sector and the local church through areas of next generation ministries, pastoral leadership, missions, and church planning. 

Beckley Office

Charles A. Cook, CPA
Member

Charles Cook has worked in public accounting since 1987. He graduated from Concord College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and marketing. Prior to joining Hess, Stewart & Campbell, he was a partner with the regional accounting firm Persinger & Company. Mr. Cook serves as member in charge of several accounting and audit engagements, including financial institutions, not-for- profit organizations, and small business. In addition, he is heavily involved in taxation and business advisory services.

Mr. Cook works out of Hess, Stewart & Campbell’s Beckley office, where he is engaged in a number of community services. He is a current member of the Beckley Rotary Club as well as the governmental affairs committee and the education committee through the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Cook acts as the operations coordinator for various West Virginia Soccer Association sponsored events as he is also the assistant coach to Woodrow Wilson’s girls’ soccer team.

Jeff Mollohan, CPA

Jeff Mollohan has been with Hess, Stewart and Campbell since 2005 and was named a member in January of 2015. He has 20 years of experience in public accounting plus three years in the private industry. Jeff is in charge of several audit engagements in various industries and is heavily involved in tax and consulting.

Jeff graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a specialty in marketing from West Virginia University and a specialty in accounting from Concord College. He is a member of the AICPA and the WV Board of Accountancy. Jeff is also a member of the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce and very active in local Little League.

Todd A Robinson

Todd A. Robinson, CPA
Member

Todd Robinson joined Hess, Stewart & Campbell in 2007 and has been a member of the firm since January 2015. He has 25 years’ experience in public accounting plus 4 years in the private industry.  Todd Graduated from the University of Charleston (WV) with a B.S. Accounting in 1989 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1994.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the West Virginia Board of Accountancy.  Todd is a former holder of the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) as well as a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CFTA).

Todd serves as member in charge of several audit engagements in various industries, also heavily involved in the tax and consulting areas.

Andrew G. Reed, CPA, CFE
Manager

Andrew Reed has been with Hess, Stewart & Campbell since 2013. Prior to joining Hess, Stewart & Campbell, Andrew worked in the public and private industry for three years. He graduated cum laude from Mountain State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Andrew became a certified public accountant in 2014, he is also a member of the AICPA and WV Society of CPAs. He became a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) in 2019 and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Andrew has experience with audits, reviews, compilations, and fraud examinations of entities in various industries. Additionally, he has experience in the preparation of federal and state tax returns for businesses, individuals, non-profits, trusts, and estates. 

Casey Boland
Staff Accountant

Casey Boland graduated Cum Laude from Concord University in May 2013 with a BS in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Business Management. Prior to joining Hess, Stewart & Campbell, Casey worked at Smith & Company, CPA.  Casey began working at Hess, Stewart & Campbell in February 2017 and is studying for the CPA exam. 

Kalie Zaferatos, CPA
Staff Accountant

Kalie Zaferatos has been with Hess, Stewart & Campbell since 2017. She graduated from Concord University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting in 2017. She went on to obtain her Master of Science in Accounting Taxation from Liberty University in 2018. Kalie became a Certified Public Accountant in 2019. She is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The WV Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Kalie has experience in compilations, reviews and audits, as well as preparation of federal and state tax returns for various entities and individuals. She can also assist with QuickBooks accounting software, payroll processing, and other small business accounting.

Sandra Dunlap Hawks
Paraprofessional and Office Manager

Sandy Hawks is a paraprofessional who began working in the accounting field in July 1985. She previously worked with Higgins, Gorman & Associates, Higgins, Ramsden & Associates and Persinger & Company. Hess, Stewart & Campbell acquired Persinger & Company in January 2000 at which time Sandy was named as the office manager.

Sandy has an associate degree from Southern West Virginia Community College in business science and another from Mountain State University in business administration. She is experienced in small business, payroll and federal and state tax preparation.

Kelly Basham
Receptionist

Kelly Basham joined the Beckley office of Hess, Stewart & Campbell, as receptionist, in December of 2017. Kelly has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Mountain State University. She has experience in Quickbooks bookkeeping software. She can assist with payroll, monthly and quarterly payroll reporting and write ups for your small business. She can also help with processing federal and state tax returns.

Lewisburg/Beckley Offices

Noel Dehaven, CVA
Manager

Noel Dehaven is a firm manager in Hess, Stewart & Campbell’s Lewisburg and Beckley offices. Noel joined Hess, Stewart & Campbell in January of 2010 with over seven years of experience in public accounting prior to joining the firm. His expertise lies with taxation and business consulting.

Noel attended Marshall University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1996. He then earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the West Virginia University College of Business & Economics. After graduating with his MBA, Noel worked as a fee-based financial planner before returning to WVU to pursue his accounting and law degrees. Noel then attended the West Virginia University College of Law and College of Business & Economics graduating with his Juris Doctor and bachelor’s degree in accounting in the same year.

Noel is a certified valuation analyst and holds membership with AICPA and the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Noel resides in Lewisburg, WV with his wife Carrie, and four children, Ruby, Josiah, Tripp and Abel. He is an active member in his community where he holds office with various local organizations, such as: Greenbrier County 4-H Foundation, Greenbrier Residents for Outreach to the World, Inc. and We Got Next, Inc.
